Fatiha Sadat is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Montreal, QC, Canada. She is the Vice Director of Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (CRIA) and head of the Natural Language Processing axis.

She was a researcher at the National Research Council of Canada from 2004 to 2006. She has received here PhD and Master degrees from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Nara, Japan. Here research lies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science (DS) and focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning and Digital Humanities. In particular, she is interested in less-resourced languages and domains, such as the indigenous and endangered languages, morphologically-rich languages, machine translation, language variants and dialects, multilingual applications, information extraction, social media analysis, etc. Here research is supported by several funds from NSERC, FRQNT, MITACS and CRBLM.
